For your convenience, you can apply for your marriage license online up to one year prior to your wedding date by following this link: Please keep in mind, applying online is only the first step of the marriage license process. You are required to pick up your license at the State Department of Health or with an after-hours license agent when you get to Hawaii. You will then bring the license to your wedding for your minister to process after the ceremony.

When physically obtaining the license you both need to be present. The only legal documentation required is a photo ID, such as a drivers license or passport. If previously married, proof of original divorce decree or death certificate only needs to be presented if the divorce or death was final within 30 days of applying for a marriage license.

Marriage licenses can be physically obtained two ways, you are welcome to go to the State Department of Health located at 1250 Punchbowl, or you can schedule an appointment with an independent agent. The State Department of Health is open Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), 8 AM to 4 PM. If you would like to obtain the license on a weekend, holiday, or after hours, you are required to contact one of the agents listed below to schedule an appointment.
